coworker: hahaha.. thats like saying that youre gonna stay in a bad relationship because everyone else has broken up with this girl
me: omg
i would feel soo bad
coworker: hahaha
yea but at some point maybe she would realize there was a reason everyone was breaking up with her
in this situation lets say because she smelled bad
and then she would start showering more often
and then she would find the man of her dreams
happy ending

For a Great Sustainable Seafood Choice, Choose... →
I do care about the sustainability of seafood, which I enjoy greatly. I love salmon and other fish, but overfishing and fish farms are definitely a problem, but mussels are one of the most sustainable types of seafood. I’ll have to start cooking this.

eigen do it if i try
Looking at a recent quora question that I followed about data science (What are some good “toy problems” in data science?), and procrastinating on revising - I thought that being a ‘data scientist’ would be a cool aspiration. Perhaps not a data scientist, per se, but to become knowledgeable to some extent where I can look at system matrices and the like and make some...

time in-between
I really enjoy the in-between times of the day. Whether it’s sitting on the subway heading somewhere, waiting for the next case to start in jury duty, or the quiet moments before rice is done cooking. I think it’s just because I am not doing something that is blocked out already, I cherish the moments more. I find myself more productive because of those precious minutes - I’ve...

My mom is being pissy at me from something that apparently occurred a few months ago. In December, I was tasked with getting my cousin who’s in 6th grade(?) a birthday present, because “now that I’m working I need to buy people things.’ I, of course, have absolutely no idea what to get a 11/12 year old boy that is not a video game, because earlier that summer I got him a...

Could the eagles have flown Frodo into Mordor? →
Watching RotK and thought about this. Conclusion from this post is that yes, they could, and that they did not was just a plot hole.

tired of home
For some reason, today has been particularly tiring for me. I think that it is the staying at home that exhausts me the most. My parents are just tiring for my soul, whether it is from the incessant nagging and complaining, their own arguing, or just the general disquiet and un-serenity of home.  The thing is I don’t think it’s the driving back and forth. When driving, I tend to zone...

I am a crazy partier...
..not at all. First time at a night club (Amnesia) last night for a friends birthday celebration. Walking there from the subway was super sketchy - the neighborhood did not seem very nice; it was all empty and dark warehouses. I felt logistically it was a nightmare, as I also invited a friend who brought their friends, and we were not sure where to wait or what to do before getting in. Once...

post-thesis progress (sort of)
I had a second meeting with my advisor on Friday to talk further on manuscripting. I just really enjoy talking with him, because he is so smart and has so much experience, and is really into the courses he teach and courses he does research in. We are going to meet again in three weeks hopefully with some back and forth on the draft and cut parts out to make it an interesting read, again,...
